What a weekend! I know it is Tuesday already but Monday really just flew right by, I did not even have a second to blink.  We finally made some major progress at the house this weekend. Hanging art and getting ourselves a little more organized was so nice.  The pool opened on Friday so of course I had to take a half day and enjoy a little R&R and few cocktails in the sun. I am loving my new suit- Patrick thinks I looks like tarzan but I love it. 

We snagged some fresh peonies from TJ's on Saturday and picked up Bill the Buffalo from the framer.  How do you think it turned out? Side note: please excuse my bookshelves and lack of sofa pillows- they are still in the works.  The talented, Rebecca Atwood is making a custom pillow for the chair and I cannot wait to see it.

Friday, Friday, Friday! Can anyone tell that I am excited that it is almost the weekend?  Just a few more hours and I will be pool side with a Greyhound (my summer drink of choice) in hand. The pool is finally opened and the weather is supposed to be hot, hot this weekend, so I plan on spending lots of time in my new swim suit and cover up. We had plans to go to Mumford and Sons, but unfortunately it was canceled, so instead Patrick will be heating up the grill for a backyard BBQ.  

This year I will be celebrating Father's day from afar, since I will not be in AZ to honor my pops, I did send him a pretty awesome gift straight from his favorite KC restaurant.  Instead we will be playing golf (hopefully only 9 holes) and hosting dinner for Patrick's parents. What are you up to this weekend? I hope it is something fabulous!

There is something about denim shorts that just screams summertime. The temperatures are finally heating up in Kansas City and pretty much the only thing I wish I was wearing on the daily are some denim shorts or a sleeveless shift dress. The distressed denim look has crossed over from Fall/Winter to shorts weather and I cannot complain.  I especially love these J Brand white distressed shorts to pair with this top.

Sorry for the lack of "Lately" pictures today, honestly not much exciting happened over here this past weekend.  I spent most of the weekend at work and some did major lounging the other part of the weekend.  I am excited for this week to be a little slower pace and enjoy the warm weather (finally!).  Lindsay and I are headed to happy hour tomorrow and Patrick arrives on Thursday- so I have a lot to look forward to this week.

When Patrick and I moved into our house the one thing we decided is that we wanted to find some great unique art to hang on the walls.  In my previous apartment, my roomie and I had some super girly artwork. Most of the art on the walls of our old place were DIY projects, or sketches and watercolors I did when I was bored. I always wanted to invest in some good pieces but I was not ready quite yet.  So needless to say, when we moved all of my girly pieces ended up in my office.  It is the only place in our house with the color pink (hopefully you will get a peek into my office soon, there are a few finishing touches that I plan to make in the next couple weeks and then I will snap a few pictures).  

Anyways, back to the art. I came across Gray Malin about a year ago when I was trying to find that iconic Prada Marfa sign from Gossip Girl. Yes, I know I can't believe I am even admitting it, but I just loved the size, and that it was black and white (I went through a phase).  So when it came to discussing art for the new place Gray Malin's Prada Marfa series was the first thing that came to my mind.  I love the juxtaposition of the Prada Store with the cowboys (it is just soo us.. fashion obsessed and cowboy wannabe).  It is hanging now on a large wall in our dining room and I am in love. 

If you don't already know about Gray Malin's work you must check it out, he is incredibly talented. Other than my love for his Prada Marfa series, I am slilghtly obsessed with his A la Plage work; particularly this one.

For a girl who grew up watching Full House, The Adventures of Mary Kate and Ashley, Two of a Kind and the list goes on; I have always been a fan of MK and A, and I have always been so impressed with how professional they are when it comes to the work they do. A little side note, I have known MK and A since I was in kindergarten..its a long story that no one would really care to hear, but I grew up being so envious of their sister/twin relationship. There is something about having a sister that I guess I will never understand, but these two seriously have something special. Oh and not to mention the fact they have built an empire from the ground up with multiple clothing lines, and a couture brand, The Row that they have created from the ground up.

For any girl who grew up watching them on TV, they always had the best clothes..even if that was a paisley outfit with matching bandana (circa 1998). Their classic style, perfectly messy hair with middle parts, and to- die for handbags are my dream. Oh and not to mention their signature no teeth smile (still waiting to master that...I don't think it will ever happen) Needless to say, they even make a grey t-shirt look effortless.

I just love the summer months- maybe it has something to do with growing up in Arizona and the scalding hot temps, but I love sun and being outside when the sun is shining. Since we have officially kicked off summer with the Memorial Day weekend, the pool is finally open and I cannot wait to throw on my new suit- I am seriously obsessing over Marysia's zig zag suits. I really wanted this Flamingo print, but I decided to go safe and get the solid blush color. I love how it looks with a good tan!

Patrick and I are headed to Nashville for the first time to go see Bob Dylan in concert, do a little bar hopping on Broadway street, and hopefully see sweet Jessica. I have a long list of places to eat, and I am so excited. We are definitely stopping at Mas Tacos for lunch but if any of you lovies have any advice I would love to hear your recommendations.

I have had an obsession with fresh berries as of late. I have been eating them at almost every meal and they are not too bad in a glass of champagne either. My drink of choice this month has been a glass of rose, or a delicious Greyhound..the grapefruit juice is just so refreshing.

With a good tan, I try not to wear as much makeup. I love a NARS illumnator and a dusting of NARS Laguna bronzer for the perfect glow and some soft pink lip gloss and normally call it a day. Do you have any beauty favorites for the summer months?

What a weekend! I feel like I can finally take a deep breath and head into the possibly crazy work week with a clear head. I did everything and more of what I had planned for the weekend (minus, really cleaning the house). A couple girlfriends and I stopped by the Prairie Village Art Fair and had a few spiked fresh lemonades, crepes, and of course I found an amazing artist that I loved but naturally was way out of my price range. So I moved back slowly and parted ways with her beautiful paintings.

Lately, I have been living in my new Sam Edelman sandals. You can tell they are already slightly worn in and I have had them for less than a month..oops! Even Miss Molly loves them as much as I do (please disregard how shaggy she is, she gets her summer cut tomorrow morning).

One of my favorite things about the warmer weather is my craving for fresh fruit, I have been munching on blueberries and raspberries non- stop.

What may have been the best part of my weekend was the purchase of my new Clarisonic Mia 2. I have been doing so much research and I finally pulled the trigger on this beloved beauty product. It is still on the charger, but tomorrow morning will be my first time to try it out. I will be sure to report back! But in the meantime, if any of you have any advice, I would love to hear. I bought a new bottle of Purity face cleanser too, I seriously have a love for all Philosophy products (and it could have something to do with the label design).
