SHINE BRIGHT

With Valentines Day on it's way, I am sure a few of you are hoping for something sparkly from your significant other. If Patrick ever picks out jewelry for a special or non-special occasion, he knows I really love classic, timeless pieces (he has learned this from five years of experience). I have to give him a lot of credit, because he has never bought me anything I do not absolutely love. So, when it comes to the mecca of a jewelry investment, I would say it's the tennis bracelet. I think it is a statement that will never go out of style. It is definitely something you can wear everyday, if you go with more of the classic style. Anjolee Diamonds is an online source that allows you to completely customize your diamonds, whether it be eternity bands, engagement rings, or necklaces. You can pick out the style, metal, quality of the diamonds or gemstones, carat size- you name it and they can do it! I hope that one day I will be able to afford one of these beauties- especially the classic circle.

Every week, Anjolee offers a special discount on one of their fine jewelry styles, but for being one of my fabulous readers, you can also use the coupon code: MP591 to receive an additional 5% off any order.

LATELY

Happy Monday (or Superbowl hangovers)! Patrick was in town this weekend and the weather happened to be just about perfect (at least for him, I thought it was still a little cold in Kansas City).  Saturday morning we took the pups for a walk to Hi Hat, the smallest, most darling coffee shop in Westwood. We  then ventured to Nifa's for a Mexican feast for lunch and followed it by some vintage hunting in the West Bottoms. I found a cowhide rug from Restoration Emporium, let's just say, I was beyond excited to find one for under $200! We debated on what to do and then I talked Patrick into making a trip to the Nelson.  The art museum is one of my favorite places in Kansas City, but we did not end up spending much time inside the museum because the weather was bright and sunny.  We played outside in the Sculpture Park for hours running around, taking pictures and laughing.  It ended up being a pretty perfect day.  Our food tour ended with delicious barbecue from Oklahoma Joes- I think I need to go on a juice cleanse after all of the food we ate this weekend.  Yesterday, we ran errands, did a little cleaning, dropped Patrick off at the airport and watched the Superbowl while working on my computer (looking up for all of the commercials and Beyonce).

Hope all you lovelies had wonderful weekend!

6 Things I Love

This year has been off to such a great start, and February is no different.  I was able to spend the first weekend of the "month of love" with Patrick (it had been almost a month!) and do a few of my favorite things that I will be sharing early this week.

I don't know about any of you but I am super excited for the Superbowl. Well, really just the commercials and Beyonce, but I have a feeling I am not alone on this topic.  I normally host a Superbowl party every year and make a spread of all of my favorite snacks, but we are still waiting on our couch to arrive, so I decided to skip this year.  Another Feb favorite of mine is the Oscar Red Carpet. I mean, who can resist listening to Joan Rivers bag on the most beautiful people in the world and awing over the perfectly selected jewels.

But, who can forget the most loved/ hated holiday of the year..  There are so many opinions about Valentine's Day, but I have personally always loved it even when I was single.  My parents always made Valentine's day such a special day when I was growing up.  Most years it was heart patterned socks from my mom and flowers from my dad, they always knew how to make me feel especially loved on this day. The tradition has continued, but Patrick has taken over the duty of embarrassing me at work with flowers (even though I secretly love it).

Any who, now that I have rambled on for what seems like forever.  What is your favorite thing about February?  Sports, lots of kisses (maybe even chocolate), the Oscars, the new Spring lines... and the list goes on.

DAINTY DETAILS

So, to say I am obsessed with these initial necklaces by the fabulous Maya Brenner would be an understatement. This past week, I noticed Meg was wearing on with her initials MB. It is the perfect, everyday statement that can be worn with everything. The gold is also my favorite part (but they do come in silver in case that is more your type) because it would match with just about everything I wear on a daily basis. Alot of inital necklaces are sort of loud and in your face (do you know what I mean?). Like the moms that have 5 charms on their neck with each of their kid's names- let's just say, I am not really a fan of this. I don't have a ton of friends with kids yet, but when I do- I think this would be a very personalized gift. With Valentine's day coming up, this would also be the perfect gift from a hubby or bf. I mean you can't get much more personal than an inital necklace.

A Dining Debacle

This weekend I am so exciting because Patrick and I are finally pulling the trigger on a couch and dining chairs.  (to explain- we have not had a couch since we moved in, and I am over the moon that we finally made a decision).  We are getting this Restoration Hardware sofa and it was well worth the wait.  Not only is it totally comfortable (we can both lay down at the same time and watch tv), but it looks good too.

Next order of business are chairs for the dining room.  I am not sure if I told ya'll, but Patrick is pretty amazingly talented and built us our very own farmhouse table. It looks pretty perfect for the space and for Christmas he got me two lucite arm chairs.  We went back and forth if we should go with all lucite, or mix and match.  I want my home to be liveable, and cozy but also to look good.  So we decided against all lucite.  So then I was thinking that I wanted white upholstered chairs, like in picture number one,  but I know that my sweet puppies will totally ruin them with their muddy paws, so here comes the debacle.  Do we go with white/cream slipcovers or go in a totally different direction?  I need all of the opinions I can get, so start sharing (pretty please and thank you!)

The Takeaway

I told you I would share I few things I learned during my time at ALT.  To be honest, I came into the conference with very little expectations and came out with a new outlook on how I am going to approach life and how to find inspiration in the unexpected. And this outlook did not necessarily come from take-aways during the panels but more from the personal relationships that I built over those few short days.  Maybe it was long chats with Jessica or listening to Jasmine Star preach her ways, but it really got me thinking- I need to focus on being ME.   Whether that is the good or the bad, it's me in the whole.  (sorry if this is getting too deep), but it takes me to my next point.

I realized that I am the only one that is going to make things happen for myself.  Whether it be relationships, blogging, happiness, business....and the list goes on- I am going to be the one that makes it happen. That being said, I have a lot of exciting things up my sleeve and I am going to do everything in my power to make sure they happen.  I am so inspired right now and I want to stay that way- so hopefully all you lovely readers will help me continue on this journey. Your comments are what keep me going and make this feel "worth it" on days when I am not in the mood- so really I would love to hear from you.

RECAP- ALT SUMMIT PART 1

Inspired may be in understatement, this past week was one of the most incredible and inspiring weeks of my life.

I headed out to Salt Lake City last week to attend ALT Summit and came back with a new outlook on life (I know that may sound cheesy). If you are not familiar with ALT Summit, it is a three-day conference filled with some of the most talented design and lifestyle bloggers sharing their tips and tricks to finding your voice and being successful.  But, what I found was it was much more than just that.  It was a place where like-minded people come together, learn, laugh and maybe even find themselves.  Being in my mid 20's, I am constantly trying to "figure it all out".  Before the trip I was so worried about my business cards, what I was going to wear, and how I was going to portray myself in situations with new people.  And you know what I figured out, that being myself and not worrying over the little details were the two best things I could have ever done.

Being open and present during the conference allowed me to meet some incredible people. Not only were all of them talented in their own right, but willing to share stories that some of my friends I have known for years haven't even shared. Who would have thought in just 4 days I could meet people that I could call my friends?  I was so lucky to have two wonderful roommates, the extremely talented Jessica (if you were following my instagram, you saw her amazing custom jewels I was so fortunate to be able to wear all week)  and my real-life friend, Michelle (I wouldn't have been at ALT if it wasn't for her). I know we will be life long friends- a trip to Nashville may be in the works for this Summer.  I loved meeting and chatting with uber-talented ladies like Camille, Meg, Erin, Ashley, Jessica, Morgan and Carrie, just to name a few.  But all in all, the best take away from this past week was the relationship I made and can't wait to see what is next.

I will be posting a recap of what I learned at the conference tomomorrow.  Stay tuned!

THE PERFECT PAIR

Ever since the holiday season when J Crew had their pj sets on display, I have been lusting over these pretty pairs of pj's (try saying that 5 times fast).  To be honest, I do not normally sleep in a cute outfit like these, but I have to say- I would love too.  Typically I throw on a worn- in, old college t-shirt, some boxers and call it a day.  But seriously, who wouldn't want to be in one of these cute combos when your head hits the pillow. I think I might have to splurge for the short sleeve Eberjey set in navy.

Too bad I don't have these in time for ALT, instead my roomies, Jessica and Michelle will have to witness my 'not so chic' pj's.
