LATELY

What a weekend! I feel like I can finally take a deep breath and head into the possibly crazy work week with a clear head. I did everything and more of what I had planned for the weekend (minus, really cleaning the house). A couple girlfriends and I stopped by the Prairie Village Art Fair and had a few spiked fresh lemonades, crepes, and of course I found an amazing artist that I loved but naturally was way out of my price range. So I moved back slowly and parted ways with her beautiful paintings.

Lately, I have been living in my new Sam Edelman sandals. You can tell they are already slightly worn in and I have had them for less than a month..oops! Even Miss Molly loves them as much as I do (please disregard how shaggy she is, she gets her summer cut tomorrow morning).

One of my favorite things about the warmer weather is my craving for fresh fruit, I have been munching on blueberries and raspberries non- stop.

What may have been the best part of my weekend was the purchase of my new Clarisonic Mia 2. I have been doing so much research and I finally pulled the trigger on this beloved beauty product. It is still on the charger, but tomorrow morning will be my first time to try it out. I will be sure to report back! But in the meantime, if any of you have any advice, I would love to hear. I bought a new bottle of Purity face cleanser too, I seriously have a love for all Philosophy products (and it could have something to do with the label design).

LOVE YOU, FRIDAY

What a week and I could not be happier that is Friday (what a surprise, I say this same thing every week).  I did not really get to enjoy a long weekend because of work, so I am really going to soak up my "no plans" weekend. While Patrick was in town last week, we completely overindulged on some delicious food; so this weekend I am going to try to make it to Fusion every day and eat healthy- we will see if that last thing actually happens.  Tonight I am grabbing drinks with a few friends and tomorrow I am headed to the farmer's market after my workout to get some fruits and veggies for a homemade juice cleanse. I am sure there will probably be some long walks with the pups around Mission Hills all weekend (I just  love all of the quiet streets and beautiful houses).

WEDDING SEASON

It's finally the time of year when you can pull out your favorite dresses. I am starting to get to the age when all of my vacations are scheduled around friends and family weddings (which I absolutely love). This summer I have a few weddings to attend and I am always trying to find the perfect (non-black) dress to wear. This neon yellow number is perfect for a casual outdoor wedding, since it is pretty bright, I might pair it with neutrals and let the dress speak for itself or add a denim jacket and dress it down. Tunics are about my favorite thing to wear year round.  In the winter I throw on a pair of black leggings and in the summer I think they look super cute with a pair of cut-offs.  There is something about these flowy tops that just says "I am super comfortable but completely put together".  I am totally crushing over that silk Joie one.  Tory Burch also makes a ton of really cute ones that look adorable with J Crew mini pants or skinny jeans.

THE STAPLES

There are alot of things that make me happy but a good latte, comfy denim and a white tee are some of my favorites. And we are off! I cannot believeit is the weekend already, and I am definitely not complaining. This week just flew by and Patrick surprised me once again with a visit home (gosh I love it when he is home). I will be working most of the weekend but hope to enjoy some down time with the pups, friends and hopefully make it pool side one of these days and of course a lot of barbecuing. I just love any excuse for a good barbecue (especially the chips and dips and a Tank 7- I am a beer girl at heart). Although I will not be heading to the lake or jet setting to the beach for the weekend, I do want to spend as much time outdoors as possible. DANIEL WELLINGTON + ART

For the last year I have been in search of the perfect men's style watch. Ya know, like the standard gold Michael Kors that almost every girl I know has. Don't get me wrong, I love that watch but every time I tried it on it never really looked good on my wrist. The bulkiness of the watch was always the issue, so I continued my search.  A few months ago I spotted this Daniel Wellington on Samantha of Could I Have That and have been obsessing ever since.  It is the perfect watch for my wrist- still large enough, but lays flat on my arm.  It has quickly become one of my favorite accessories. 

Did I ever tell you guys that I am a total Art History nerd?  My favorite classes in college were French Impressionism and Art Since 1945, possibly because of the professors but maybe just because I could pronounce the names of the artists (African Art was not my cup of tea).  Recently I have been pulling out my old art books to fill some book shelves. I had fun browsing through the pages of some of my favorite artists, like Willem de Kooning and Andy Warhol.

As the three day weekend and the official kick-off to summer approaches, Sunday and Monday are the perfect excuses to pull out all the red,white and blue.  I love being festive for the holidays, especially if that means wearing a blue and white striped sundress, comfy sandals and fun red lipstick.  I decided to stay in town this weekend to celebrate the holiday with friends.  We have a big barbecue planed on Sunday afternoon and hopefully will be poolside on Monday enjoying my day off.

TODAY

I had two posts scheduled for today, but it just didn't feel right to talk about my new watch or Memorial Day style with all of the devastation happening in Oklahoma. People woke up this morning without their homes, loved ones, and or any physical possessions. I was listening to the radio on my way to work and hearing those innocent children tell their stories made me want to cry. So today, I think it is important to take a moment of silence and support those who are suffering.  It is pretty incredible to read the stories from all of these people donating their time and money.

LATELY

Well, I am finally back and am ready for a brand new week, maybe still wishing I was still in sunny San Diego. Let's talk about perfect weather in southern California. This past weekend was full of sunshine, lots of love, and a wedding full of beautiful details.  From a gorgeous hotel, to amazing fresh food, poolside reading, and bridal suite primping; my week was full of some of my favorite things.

My first day was full of rest and relaxation at the pool in this new swim suit and my book (I know I am behind the times, but I love it!), Patrick and I enjoyed a day of exercise and a little shopping (I found this and this at Anthropologie), Friday was the ultimate girls day with a Mexican fiesta to kick off the wedding weekend, and the big day was spent in the bridal suite getting our makeup and hair done and spending a special day with the bride to be. The wedding was absolutely beautiful, down to every last detail.
